How to Prepare for your Home Inventory – Pre-Inventory Checklist
Before We Arrive
We will be photographing and videotaping your home room-by-room. To make the inventory process easier and faster, please present your home in a tidy and orderly condition – with items to be inventoried made accessible.
Electronics
Make, model, and serial numbers will be recorded from computers, printers, appliances, televisions, and other electronics without moving them from their location. If this information is not easily reached, we will only record information that is accessible. Receipts showing serial or model numbers are also helpful for documentation.
Closets & Cupboards
- If you would like to include closets in your inventory, the contents should be accessible and ready for pictures. Expensive suits, designer dresses, fur coats, etc., are often forgotten on insurance policies.
- Smaller kitchen appliances such as mixers, blenders, etc., should be removed from cupboards.
- Fine china, crystal, and silverware will be photographed in a single place setting. Each piece will then be counted and entered into the quantity fields of our software.
Storage Areas & Outbuildings
- If you choose to inventory everything in your garage, basement, attic, or storage area, the contents http://vhealthportal.com must be neat and organized in order for us to photograph and inventory accurately.
- We will not open boxes; therefore, boxed items will not be documented. If you would like us to unpack and inventory the contents of boxes, we will be happy to give you a separate estimate.
Vehicles
We will record your vehicles, trailers, boats, motorcycles, lawn mowers, etc. We will be happy to give you an estimate and arrange to inventory items stored off site for an additional charge.
Collections
Collections will be photographed and documented as a group unless otherwise specified. Please have your collections out and ready. A detailed piece-by-piece inventory for a particular special collection can be arranged for an additional charge.
Important Papers
Information from your homeowner’s policy can be included in your report upon request. You can also include information about your mortgage and the names of your banker, broker, and/ or attorney.
